Family Dynamics: The Noble and Most Ancient House of Black have long believed purity is standard for being called a wizard or a witch. Dating back as far as the Middle Ages, The Black family have always loathed muggles, especially a muggle born witch or wizard. It is the ultimate disgrace, having one of impurity able to use magic or be considered a member of Wizarding society. This is why the House of Black have long supported any and all that seek a world controlled and ruled by purebloods. Their allegiance is now given to Voldemort, though Orion and Walburga do not serve him directly, they do mold their children to become a part of his regime.

Name Etymology

Sirius: From the Latin Sīrius, from Greek Σείριος (Seirios, "glowing" or "scorcher"). The name also comes from the “Dog star” which is the brightest star of Canis Major, the "Great Dog" constellation. It was also classically depicted as Orion's dog. The Ancient Greeks also thought that Sirius' emanations could affect dogs adversely, making them behave abnormally in the heat of summer ("Dog Days"). Their excessive panting was thought to place them at risk of desiccation and disease. In extreme cases, a foaming dog may have rabies, which could infect and kill humans who'd been bitten.

Overall Personality

Sirius Black, the first born son to a family that has served and believed in pureblood supremacy for generations. Only a few have chosen not to follow this path. Sirius is among these few. He values friendship, loyalty, and equality above all else. Sickened by his family's views, Sirius despises evil, elitists, and even his family. Running away has labeled him a blood traitor, a title he embraces. His care free attitude, his love of women, his lack of responsibility, and his adoration of mischief have given him quite the reputation. One he holds dear, doing anything he can to uphold the image. It is also an escape, keeping him from dwelling on the fact that his family has disowned him. Though it is rare, this fact does affect him, despite his defiance of it. It will push him into depression, causing him to become short tempered, angry, and even makes him lose interest in doing things he loves. However, more often than not, Sirius is always up to something, doing what he's known best for. Confident, bluntly honest, shameless, easy going, and fun. Sirius Black, blood traitor, Marauder, and Gryffindor Prince, has a lust for life unmatched by most. Always on the move, bringing smiles to other's faces, Sirius will flirt and attempt to seduce just about any female he comes across. All the while, he will fight for any just cause and is one of the most accepting and friendly people anyone will ever meet.

History

Born on April 1st, 1960, Sirius Black was the first born son of Orion and Walburga Black. As heir to the Noble and Ancient House of Black, Sirius was expected to help lead the next generation into a world ruled by pure-bloods. Thus, his entire childhood was him being prepped, trained, and exposed to the ways of pure-blood elitism. Much was expected from him, and though his family does not support Lord Voldemort directly, they do believe in his ideals of pure-blood supremacy. Sirius would become a Death Eater, or so it was believed. As Sirius grew older, he began to drift from his family, finding that their madness was something he could not become a part of. It was around the age of 11 that he would begin to rebel, his first year of attending Hogwarts. It was here that he would meet James Potter, and the two would fast become friends, even brothers. Sirius would witness James bullying another boy by the name of Severus Snape during the ride on the Hogwarts Express. Deciding to join in, it became clear that Sirius and James would have more than a few things in common. Being sorted into Gryffindor instead of Slytherin was the first sign that Sirius was not like the rest his family. Sirius was just, noble, and clearly held no prejudice towards any that weren't pure, much to the dismay of those he was related to.

This would continue to flourish as the years passed. Sirius would become more distant, refusing to follow the teachings of his family. Anger would seethe the Black household, through his parents, his cousins, and even his younger brother who had been born a few years after Sirius. Unlike Sirius, Regulus took to their ways willingly. Sirius had become an enemy inside his very own home. Still, Walburga and Orion would literally try and force him to conform. His only escape was school, being with James, Remus, and Peter. Even there he didn't exactly find peace. Narcissa, Bellatrix, and those they ran with would often give him grief, though Sirius found their belittlement easier to deal with than he did his parents'. Sirius, along with James, Remus, and Peter had become known as the Marauders, a group that become extremely popular, known for their antics and mischief. This is also around the time James, Peter, and Sirius began their training to become an Animagus. Remus was a werewolf, and instead of letting the secret become known, The Marauders would each become an unregistered Animagus, tending to their friend during his change.

This would also be the origins of the group's nicknames. Each name derived from the animal they turned into in their Animagus form. James a stag, become known as Prongs, Sirius a giant black dog, become known as Padfoot, and Peter, a rat, Wormtail. Remus was also included, becoming known as Moony. The four were inseperable, and had become Sirius' newfound family. At the age of 16, the life of Sirius Black changed forever. He had had enough of his family's "pure-blood mania" (Direct quote from the book), and ran away, moving in with James and his parents. Sirius began a new life, though his decision would forever label him a blood traitor. Walburga, infuriated by her son's decision blasted his name off of the Black family tree. It made no difference to Sirius, he was finally happy and in a home where he was accepted and loved.

Entering into his 7th year, Sirius and the Marauders are more popular than ever. They are the Kings of Hogwarts, and as Voldemort continues to gain power, Sirius, James, Remus, Peter, and others stand and fight against the rising tyranny. All the while having their fun and doing what it is that they do best.
